I was transferred to the active reserve for the next six years. I lived in Rockaway Beach, NY and I was assigned to Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. When I reported to Fort Hamilton I explained that I lived in Rockaway and Fort Tilden in Rockaway was just minutes from my home. Could I be transferred there which would save a lot of driving time. Within a week I was assigned to an JD Truck Training Centre anti-aircraft battery at Tilden. I would be trained as a lineman stringing communication wire. I could hardly wait.
There are a lot of things to learn during this period and you will still need a lot of practice driving and maneuvering the truck. Driving school will give you the bases, but you are no way able to jump right into an 80000 pound vehicle all by yourself just yet.
When the issue of money is resolved, it's time to decide if the desired school's location will be a good fit for your current situation (i.e. single or married with Hr licence SA a family). Are you going to commute daily? If so, how far? Gas can get very costly! Or, are you going to move to attend your choice of Truck driving school? If so, where are you going to reside and at what cost? Some truck driving schools do offer dorms similar to a college campus; but it will obviously raise the cost of attending the institution.
I have tried to reform Jesse to the best of my ability. I started with a book given to me by my brother-in-law; called Good Masters make Good Dogs. I followed this book to the t, child-locking my kitchen, putting shock systems on things, but it did absolutely nothing. Jesse just out-smarted it all. I was at a loss. I then turned to my veterinarian. The vet taught me tricks to correct misbehavior in animals that was "fool-proof". Well, obviously, my dog is either a genius or a dunce. Jesse seemed hopeless, resistant to any type of correction.
Upon discharge from active duty he was assigned to Fort Hamilton as I had been. Living in Brooklyn it was logical that he would spend his six years of active army reserve at this fort. His outfit was activated during the Korean War and they were sent to Korean. He had been wounded and fortunately not seriously. He mentioned several people who had been either killed or wounded in HR Truck Licence action and I recalled two of them. We parted ways and I went about my business. But before I could get in my car and return home I needed a cup of coffee and a few cigarettes.
Is there flexibility in traveling while hauling shipment? Yes. You get to choose when and where to stop. The drivers who make the most money have time management so that they can create a more flexible lifestyle for themselves.
Today truck driver training is more affordable than ever. Most training schools can point you in the right direction to apply for grants and some trucking companies will pick up the cost of your training for free in exchange for an employment contract. Good luck.
